WHAT'S THAT SONG?
WHO'S THAT ARTIST?
Yarah Bravo
The Bluebird by Yarah
Bravo.. .who? We said Yara Bravo...doesn't ring a bell?
It will soon. This fresh
new artist was born in Sweden to a Chilean mother and a Brazilian
father and is a brilliantly blurring the lines between spoken word,
rap and RnB. We heard her new track "The Bluebird" the other day at
some event (that's a whole other story to be told) and instantly
recognized the brilliance. The production is reminiscent of Timbaland
mixed with a touch of Macy Gray with its own unique styling. The
splendor of her voice combined with the rich soulful and bright sound
is a joy to listen to. Hip-hop that's tight enough to make your head
bounce, and uplifting enough to keep you coming back. Well, see and
hear for yourself.

MUSIC AS YOU SHOP
Getting your Groove on
at the Store
Speaking
of music, have you ever wondered into a store and unconsciously
started to nod your head to the music that’s being played in the
background? Have you then gone up to the counter and either were
unwilling to ask the sales rep who the artist was? Then when you do
ask, the rep looks at you with a funny face and tells you that it is
the company tape they gave them. They have no idea. Some stores are
recognizing this demand and putting out CD’s, most notably Armani
Exchange, which offers its 8th in installment mixed by
David Morales (click
here)
Other stores go one step further and actually employ DJ’s during peak
shopping periods. Our choice for the best in-house music would be at
LeChateau, Armani Exchange and Kenneth Cole and Diesel.
ADVISE GUY
Check the Check
We
all love our establishments and we all don’t mind paying for a good
time, good food or good drinks. What we do mind are the other type of
morning hangover. Upon checking your account balance, you see that
the restaurant/bar/lounge/club has charged you more than what you
signed off on…tip included. You frantically search for the receipt
while at the same time contemplating the audacity of the venue to
remove that extra cash. On more than several occasions, I have found
myself staring at account withdrawals that were larger than what I had
signed off too. At one particular establishment, it happened twice!
A couple of things you should do in order to resolve such issues.
1. Make
sure you know your servers/bartenders name and have them initial your
Bill
2.
Always, Always, Always,
keep your copy of the receipt
3. Make
sure you get a full explanation of the bill
4. Immediately
call the place when you discover the discrepancy. Even if it is
leaving a voicemail that same night.
5.
Call you bank and let them
know about the situation.
6. If
you are unable to resolve the matter with the establishment and truly
feel cheated. Then make sure to post your comments about them on blogs,
websites and forums that solicit reviews and comments.
Nobody loves bad
press. And this last recourse has proven to be quite effective on
deterring future problems. The key here is to be knowledgeable,
smart and sober enough to be on top of things.
